I love this very much...so descriptive and reminiscent of the lushness of the Caribbean. BUT...how me going to find de happiness? When we watch de blades of grass away in the winds?? Or perhaps it is in me and not around me. Tell me more.

Camille, thank you! It was easier for me because I had so much more than others. Yet look at me, struggling to find a happy place. I'm impressed with those who have less yet know how to find joy.

Look at yourself for your answers.... you found things to love in your homeland. There are lots of people there who achieve. It’s certainly not as easy as in the “greener pastures”

Gayatri, I had to dig deep, it was tough, but I'm so glad I made the effort. Look at the people I've connected with, the joy in simplicity.

I've tried to tell someone this...that "greener pastures" isn't that great. But she thinks I'm wrong. People have to struggle hard in developed countries too.

Lovely to read your snippets again. 2005 blogs seem so far away.

Whenever I go back to Algeria, I ignore the sorry state it has been in since independence in 1962 and find happiness cocooned with my family.

Maybe because I know that I’m only there for a few short weeks. :(

Hello Krimo, it's lovely to see you here. :-) When I used to go home only for the holidays, I was the same as you, finding happiness cocooned with family, then off I'd go again. But going back for good...oh boy! Different story.

I bet Algeria is beautiful despite everything.
