Flowing with the go…

Marnin’. How you doin’?
Haha. Whenever I ask Guyanese this, I’d get this reply from some of them:
“Nothing.”
I guess they think they’re hearing: “Wha’ you doing?”
What does doing nothing mean?
I’d like to be watching Netflix films, going for drives, strolling around in new places, trawling through bookstores, sitting near a river or the ocean under a tree (none of this lying down in scorching sun, baking skin for me, yeah!)
Actually, I want to float down the quiet part of the Essequibo River in a slow boat, with only the sound of the wind and the occasional chatter of friends to keep me company.
Travelling along the Essequibo is an experience out of this world. The river is so wide that, in some places, you feel as if there are no river banks…you simply can’t see them! If you go on a tranquil, sunny day, when the tide is calm, you will find yourself drifting in a dream-space between milky-brown water and a massive canopy of blue sky. In the middle of nowhere, you are fragile human, holding your breath in terror and awe.
Back to reality. Right now, my days are taken up with helping my mother who is suffering with pain from arthritis. I’m also trying to build a website, edit book 2 (again), work on a li’l t’ing…a small thing…which I hope that travellers, explorers, culture-luvvers, word-maniacs, would enjoy. I’m also writing some short stories involving very mischievous children of my lovely native land.
AND…I am trying to get more word out about my first book which can be bought online via practically any bookstore. My favourite book seller of the day is Blackwell’s because they ship to many countries! (Click on their name and there you are.)
Oh!! I’m working on a big project which I will tell you about when it’s almost done.
So…deep breath…I’m taking a little break today.
I might go for a walk, look (again) at more leaves fallen on the pavement, listen to birds.
Have a lovely two weeks until next time. Remember to eat good food and take care of you. Plenty luuuv, neena.

I like your metaphor for shopping for books: “trawling through bookstore.”
nééna I really want a copy of your book but will wait till my DILL comes on the 23rd as I'm not functioning properly.
Love,
Pat
